November and early December day hike special for when it’s not winter yet and days are short, but it’s still very much worth it to spend time in nature. This is a private hiking tour in Nuuksio National Park with 5-star service and 5-star rating. Done in the same way as we locals do it, this feels like going hiking with your Finnish friend.

Days are shorter, hikes are shorter, price is lower. Sun might shine or it might snow. Campfire is a must for lunch. You can chop the firewood and learn how to light the fire without matches or lighter. Mushrooms keep growing until ground freezes. You can find cranberries if you know where to look. The forest is very quiet, unlikely to see anyone else on weekdays.

As the sun sets quite early, around 4 pm, this is great time to do an evening hike with sunset, headtorches in the dark forest, and campfire dinner with darkness around you. Just choose a later pickup time and we’ll be there in the dark.

Pickup from your accommodation, transport to the national park, borrow any outdoor clothing you might need, walk in the forest by the lakes, learn about Finland’s nature and Finnish people, and most importantly, enjoy the peace.

I was traveling solo and wanted to go for a hike in Nuuksio National Park but I could not do it alone as I have fatigue issues, no sense of direction and no experience in hiking in a forest. I needed a companion who could guide and help me. So I was very happy to find Mikko’s website. He provides many things one may need on a hike, so he makes it hassle-free and stress-free, which suits me perfectly. He tailor-made my hike according to my limitations/ requirements and I could see that he was well prepared, and that he went out of his way to make sure I was alright and that I had a great time. He is kind, considerate and easy to talk to. I had an amazing and unforgettable experience in Nuuksio, learning about the bio-diversity, foraging for mushrooms and berries and many other things ( Don’t want to spoil the surprise). Mikko was amazing! This adventure to Nuuksio National Park with him was the highlight of my trip. He tailors the whole adventure to YOU. He truly cares about his customer and he treats you like a friend the whole time. He is your Finnish Friend for the entirety. It all started when he had open communication before the adventure started. He answered emails in a timely manner when I was inquiring about the trip. He picked me up the day of at 8a and the first thing he did was ask me how I was feeling and how far I thought I wanted to go. I filled him in on my fitness level and we chatted about distances. He is extremely easy to converse with and is a wealth of knowledge on a lot of topics. There was never awkward silence. We ended up going just shy of 12 miles and I was dropped back off at my hotel around 8:30p. Oh, I forgot to mention his attention to detail with snacks, lunch, and everything in between. He leaves nothing unplanned. We foraged as we hiked so I got to try lots of berries and we cooked some mushrooms for lunch. I would highly recommend Mikko. I truly hope our paths cross again. He is a good guy and truly cares. Book Mikko and I promise you won’t regret it and it will quickly become a highlight of your trip like it did mine!
