Nuuksio National Park Camping Tour From Helsinki

Private, multi-day camping tour in Nuuksio National Park with 5-star service and 5-star rating. This feels like going camping with a friend. Sleep in the forest the same way we locals do.

We do this in Finnish style, being self-sufficient, carrying everything we need in our backpacks and sleeping in tents. It’s the real deal.

You don’t need prior experience of this style of hiking and camping, and you can borrow all camping gear you need from me, they’re included in the service. The camping gear you can borrow are very lightweight so the backpacks aren’t heavy, but you need to be aware that you have to carry your own stuff.

Includes pickup from your accommodation, borrow all camping gear and any outdoor clothing you need, all food and drinks you need during the trip, hiking in forest and by the best lakes in Helsinki region, camping overnight, learn about Finland’s nature and society, chop firewood to have campfire in the evening, and do the seasonal activities like picking berries, foraging mushrooms, and swimming. You’re also free to do any of the other camping chores like setting up your own tent, cooking dinner, making coffee or tea with camping stove and so on.

I visited Nukksio National Park in May with Mikko and enjoyed it so much I returned for a 2 day camping trip in August. Mikko offers a unique experience because as a solo traveller unfamiliar with the park I would not do this alone. I learned so much on both occasions about birds and animals that live in the forest, trees, plants, what is edible what definitely isn't. I learned some basic skills like how to chop wood, start a fire, drink water safely. We had lovely food which tastes all the better for being outdoors including wild berries and mushrooms we picked on this occasion. Mikko explained a little to me about Finnish people and culture which helped me on my return to the city. He is incredible knowledgeable and flexible to your needs / abilities. We managed a (brief) dip in the lake at our campsite which was so refreshing and much appreciated by me but not for the faint hearted if you prefer your water warm. Throughout, communication was clear both in planning and during the trip. Mikko is patient and exceptionally well organised. I am hoping to return next Autumn as I thoroughly enjoyed marking seasonal differences in the forest.

I had a great camping trip at Nuuksio National Park. This was my first camping trip. Mikko kindly explained to me everything from choosing and packing gear to setting up tents and cooking outdoors. Mikko was a great local guide. He took us along some lesser-known trails and showed us the forest from perspectives we would never have discovered on our own. I enjoyed it very much everytime he stopped us to explain about Finnish nature, wildlife, and the local environment. I had a great time. Highly recommend!
