Nuuksion kansallispuiston opastettu päiväretki

In June 2026 I spent the day with Mikko hiking through Nuuksio National Park. And what a great day it was! I learnt so much from Mikko about the nature and fauna of the park, as well as what it was like to be Finnish and live in Finland. I chopped wood and built a fire. Ate a yummy lunch of salmon on rye bread and hot dogs cooked over the fire, accompanied with the best tasting mustard. We hiked past fields full of flowers, past lakes with amazing reflections, and through a forest where Mikko pointed out where mushrooms and berries were growing. He also told me about the birds and other animals that frequent the area. The original plan was for me to go swimming in a lake, but the weather was against us, it was a very rainy in the afternoon and a wee bit chilly. But this didn’t matter at all and I still had a fabulous time.Mikko is very professional right from my very first contact with him, to arranging the pickup times from my hotel and to all of the equipment he has to make the day comfortable. I highly recommend Finnish Friend. My day with Mikko in Nuuksio was a highlight of my time, not only in Finland, but of my six week trip to Europe.

I visited Nukksio National Park in May with Mikko and enjoyed it so much I returned for a 2 day camping trip in August. Mikko offers a unique experience because as a solo traveller unfamiliar with the park I would not do this alone. I learned so much on both occasions about birds and animals that live in the forest, trees, plants, what is edible what definitely isn't. I learned some basic skills like how to chop wood, start a fire, drink water safely. We had lovely food which tastes all the better for being outdoors including wild berries and mushrooms we picked on this occasion. Mikko explained a little to me about Finnish people and culture which helped me on my return to the city. He is incredible knowledgeable and flexible to your needs / abilities. We managed a (brief) dip in the lake at our campsite which was so refreshing and much appreciated by me but not for the faint hearted if you prefer your water warm. Throughout, communication was clear both in planning and during the trip. Mikko is patient and exceptionally well organised. I am hoping to return next Autumn as I thoroughly enjoyed marking seasonal differences in the forest.
